About Me

Originally from Berlin, I have been living in the UK for the past 15 years, and before that, for one year in Dublin, Ireland. I hold a Master's degree in German, Portuguese and Latin American Studies from the Free University of Berlin, and PGCE and City & Guilds qualifications for teaching in further education.

I can look back on many years of experience as an English-German translator and German-English translator in a wide range of fields, including financial translations, legal translations as well as advertising and marketing. I also have vast experience in translations in the music and arts sector.

Adding to my proficiency in German and English, I have studied Portuguese, Spanish and French, thus acquiring multilingual skills on which I can draw to enrich my translations.

Living and working in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Berlin as well as numerous stays in the USA, the Caribbean (where I have done research on immigration from the Caribbean to the United States), as well as Portugal, Spain and France have given me valuable knowledge about the different cultures of these countries.

For more than 10 years, I worked in the music industry for record labels, orchestra management, radio stations and music academies as an artist manager and marketing manager in Berlin, Germany and, for a brief period, in Dublin, Ireland. This work always entailed English-German translations and German-English translations of artist biographies, orchestra brochures, press releases and stage riders. I have done German-English, German-Portuguese interpreting for music festivals and in artist management for workshop facilitators and artists.

In the UK, I worked as a court interpreter, as an interpreter for the Official Receiver in bankruptcy interviews as well as doing interpreting work for local councils, with social workers and police in child abuse cases, professional development workshops and in GP surgeries and hospitals.

The language services I am offering include private 1:1 German language tuition, teaching groups, corporate and business language training, teaching at community colleges and language schools as well as freelance German translation, interpreting, proofreading, copy editing and voice-over work.
